Executive Overview of Project Management


DURATION:  Two 4 hour sessions

The Executive Overview is two, four-hour workshops. The first workshop is an introduction to project management focusing on terminology, PMI processes, roles and responsibilities, project portfolio management and project control. The second workshop concentrates on project initiation, communications and controls. In a brain-storming session, executive metric requirements are determined.



The course is designed to enable participants to:

  • Develop corporate-wide project management processes
  • Determine the Executive’s role in project management
  • Institute a standardized project management language
  • Establish Executive metrics for consistency in managing projects
  • Discuss a communication plan for reporting
  • Prioritize the project portfolio
  • Discuss the Executive’s challenges in the 21st century
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of project management processes



Two four-hour workshops held two weeks apart. A minimum of 12 and a maximum of 25 participants is recommended for this course.



Senior managers who supervise project managers or executives implementing or redesigning project management processes.
